This is the best site I found: it has all kinds of images divided into
categories. A very good source for English (also Spanish and French) teachers.
http://bogglesworld.com/: This site offers quite a
lot of resources for teachers. Though it is not a site that offers lots of
pictures, it has a section where one can find useful flashcards to be used in
the classroom. The flashcards are organized into categories such as: classroom
flashcards (deals with classroom language such as: hand in your homework, hand
out an assignment, give a report, take attendance, form a circle, line up etc);
places flashcards (at the movies, at school, at home etc); and a lot more.

to other sites that offer free images

for language teachers, it means, one should be enrolled
in the site to have
access to its full content. But it allows us to
have superficial view on its
classes with colorful images.
www.manythings.org/vq/ - It is a very interesting site , with a lot of sets
of image-based quizzes. It has, for instance,
set of nouns or verb
questions, in which the image are the main
source of information to the
student think about the theme.

- I think
it is the best I found in the net, it is a France-based
site with a very
wide approach to the theme it mentions. It even
includes a section to
children with special needs and, above all, you
can also chose an specific
subject such food, pollution, environment, etc
to help in a cross-curricular
class

: this site provide a wide range of pictures, but not many of them are related
to people. It mostly presents colored pictures in the gif format.
http://www.clipartheaven.com/clipart/
: this site offers a much wider range of pictures than the previous one. The
pictures are all organized in folders according to the topic. Before taking a
look at the pictures, you can have access to its size. There’s no description
for the pictures, but they all have quite self-explanatory names
http://www.cyberisle.com/animate/people/home.htm
