We must thank Flávia Pinheiro for having put together all the suggestions sent by her classmates.

http://www.manythings.org/vq/ , http://a4esl.org/ - These two sites have many ESL quizzes with images divided into different levels.

http://www.esl-images.com/subpage1.asp - This is the best site I found: it has all kinds of images divided into categories. A very good source for English (also Spanish and French) teachers.

http://www.ac-nancy-metz.fr/enseign/anglais/Henry/clipart.htm - This site has lots of images for ESL teachers. It also has a list with many interesting links.

http://bogglesworld.com/: This site offers quite a lot of resources for teachers. Though it is not a site that offers lots of pictures, it has a section where one can find useful flashcards to be used in the classroom. The flashcards are organized into categories such as: classroom flashcards (deals with classroom language such as: hand in your homework, hand out an assignment, give a report, take attendance, form a circle, line up etc); places flashcards (at the movies, at school, at home etc); and a lot more.

http://www.clip-art.com/: find hundreds of links to other sites that offer free images

www.esl-images.com/faq.asp - It is membership-based and family-based site
for language teachers, it means, one should be enrolled in the site to have
access to its full content. But it allows us to have superficial view on its
classes with colorful images.

www.manythings.org/vq/ - It is a very interesting site , with a lot of sets
of image-based quizzes. It has, for instance, set of nouns or verb
questions, in which the image are the main source of information to the
student think about the theme.

http://www.ac-nancy-metz.fr/enseign/anglais/Henry/clipart.htm#cen - I think
it is the best I found in the net, it is a France-based site with a very
wide approach to the theme it mentions. It even includes a section to
children with special needs and, above all, you can also chose an specific
subject such food, pollution, environment, etc to help in a cross-curricular
class

Over ! Can I go? Rs…. I was so tired, ‘cause I visited a lot of places with a little time.

http://www.ace-clipart.com/people-clipart-03.html : this site provide a wide range of pictures, but not many of them are related to people. It mostly presents colored pictures in the gif format.

http://www.clipartheaven.com/clipart/ : this site offers a much wider range of pictures than the previous one. The pictures are all organized in folders according to the topic. Before taking a look at the pictures, you can have access to its size. There’s no description for the pictures, but they all have quite self-explanatory names

http://register.freeze.com/(krcq4knnmqr0tdvrb01gol55)/index.aspx?s=clipartsample&f=19916 : this site too seems to provide lots of images, but you have to download them.

http://www.cyberisle.com/animate/people/home.htm : this site is not as well organized as the previous ones. It doesn’t offer simple still images, but animations. A lot of those contained in the site are related to people, but there are all kind of topics: from elves to computers.

It is an amazing clipart storage website. There you can find nice
cliparts divided up into different categories.

http://www.free-graphics.com/ - Free Graphics. This one is totally free, despite, in my opinion, not so big number
of categories.

http://www.teacherfiles.com/clip_art.htm - This is a simple but nice website, where besides the variety of cliparts you can find some suggestions for teaching lessons.

http://www.designedtoat.com/clipartmain.htm (it presents different artistic images representing people in different situations, as well as signs and symbols to be used in classroom and even in educational environments, academic papers, buildings, offices, companies, birthday cards, academic papers, etc.)

http://www.flashcardexchange.com/index.php (a kind of flashcard library with 2,300,432 flashcards available, and you can create yours.)

http://www.langpix.com/  (plenty of photos to be used in classroom – and all for free!)

http://www.travelbypictures.com/ (many pictures from all over the world, showing different landscapes, urban and rural scenarios. The site brings some useful pictures, for sure, but it seems to be missing many things, and its main focus is on cities from USA.)
