I’m a university student and I major in English. I
enjoy studying English very much.
- I
started to study English when I was a JHS student. I liked
English since then, because I had very good experiences
and a good class when I was a high school student. When I
was 16 years old, I went to Australia for two weeks and I
had a home stay. I had a lovely time there! The host
family was very kind. I could know Australian culture a
little and I could have a chance to speak English. However,
I couldn’t say what I wanted to say very much. Since
then, I feel that I want to speak English and know about
other countries! So, I’m interested in English very
much. At that time, I decided to go to a university where
I could study English. Before I had this wonderful
experience, I liked English, but it was boring for me
because we studied only grammar and reading. When I was a
third year student, I took OCC class. In that class, I had
many chances to talk with my classmates in English,
dictated what my teacher said in English, did Show and
Tell and read a newspaper in English. It was very hard,
but very useful for me. Since this OCC class was different
from other English classes I had had, I enjoyed it very
much. Actually, after I graduated from high school, I
wanted to go to a university in another country for four
years and study something in English. However, my great
teacher advised me to go to university in Japan first, and
she told me that I had better study abroad while I study
at university in Japan. I just followed her advice because
I respect her and I thought my English was poor. So, I
entered Dokkyo.
- Before
I entered this university, I thought I could have much
more time and many chances to speak English and I could
improve my pronunciation and conversation skill at this
university. However, actually I don’t have many chances
to speak English. I was disappointed at first, but I
noticed that it depends on myself whether I have many
chances to speak English. Then, I decided to go to
Australia for a month. It was the university’s program
and I studied English with students who came from
different countries. I talked with many friends in
English. I had a home stay and two other students were
there. I talked much with a girl who came from Indonesia.
She speaks English very fluently, but I couldn’t say
what I wanted to say again. I felt I wanted to speak
English like her. However, I had a wonderful time in
Australia. I could make many friends and talk with them!
Now I would like to study at a university in Australia and
see them again. I sometimes send them email. It is very
fun and useful for me because I can learn many things from
them, for example new vocabulary and phrases I never knew.
Anyway, I had a really good time, but I feel my English is
still poor and I have to improve my English much more.
- I’m
a sophomore now, and I would like to study in Australia next
year as I said before. I haven’t decided what subject I
study there yet, but before that, I have to take TOEFUL or
IELTS to study in Australia. It is very hard for me to get a
good mark and I don’t know what I should do now. However,
I will study very hard and improve my English skill in Japan.
Anyway, I hope I can study in Australia again!
- In
the future, I would like to work abroad. I haven’t decided
what kind of job I want to have yet, but I’m interested in
teaching Japanese, tour conductor and working at a hotel. To
realize my dream, I will keep learning English and do my
best all the time.
