READING AND WRITING THROUGH THE INTERNET

READING 7

An important feature of every text is how transition between ideas is operated. Awareness of this process is very important for both readers and writers.

Go to http://cctc2.commnet.edu/grammar/transitions.htm . Study the lesson about transition and do the online quizz that follows it (very important!). Now browse the web looking for examples of at least 6 of the trasition words and phrases discussed in the lesson. Go to one of the following search engines and type the words and phrases you chose on the search bar. You will soon come across many examples from true texts.

WRITING 7

Now let's try moving from a preliminary brainstorming of ideas into a more polished text, with appropriate transition between relevant ideas. Go to http://cctc2.commnet.edu/grammar/composition/brainstorm_freewrite.htm . You will find guidelines for a freewriting activity. Once you've done it, read and re-write your text, this time incorporating transition devices where appropriate and refining your text organization.

Send us both your list of examples of transition words and phrases in texts from the web and your own polished text.
